local public library using social media? (Use this as your subject line)
Ashfield Library has social media platforms under the wing of the Inner West Council's pages, which can be found in the footer of their website.
Twitter
The Twitter page, which encompasses all eight libraries is quite active with over 1,500 followers and over 2,500 tweets. At time of writing, there have been four tweets in the last 24 hour period about such diverse subjects as 'how to use a smart phone', a cardboard basket weaving workshop for 5-8 year olds for World Environment Day (at Balmain Library, of course!), a shout out to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to paint murals on the new Marrickville Library, and a calligraphy class at St Peters/Sydenham Library. I had scrolled through the first few pages until I found a post regarding Ashfield Library, which was about a recent comic book con-versation.
Facebook
The Inner West Council's Facebook page is also where local history of the Inner West is posted. The page also links a lot of the same posts that are on their Twitter page (an automatic function that is available). The page has over 4000 followers and has many photos of local events.

The Inner West Council Instagram has a link to Ashfield Library and it is quite an active Instagram page with 71 posts. I noticed a couple of months ago that the Council's Instagram page was non-existent ('Page Not Found') so it looks like it has only been recently re-active.
